Item Atributos quimicos do solo, teores foliares e crescimento de cafeeiros consorciados com plantas de cobertura(Embrapa Café, 2019-10) Alecrim, Ademilson de Oliveira; Silva, Jessica Elaine; Menicucci Neto, Pedro; Guimarães, Rubens José; Castanheira, Dalyse Toledo; Resende, Laís Sousa; Voltolini, Giovani Belutti; Lima, Klinger Junior MoreiraObjetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar os atributos químicos do solo e das folhas e o crescimento de cafeeiros consorciados com plantas de cobertura. O experimento foi conduzido no setor de cafeicultura da Universidade Federal de Lavras - UFLA, em Lavras - MG, no período de dezembro de 2016 a dezembro de 2018. Os fatores em estudo do experimento foram dispostos em esquema fatorial 4x5, perfazendo um total de 20 tratamentos alocados na área experimental em parcelas subdivididas. Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso com três repetições. Foram estudadas quatro plantas de cobertura do solo (feijão de porco, mucuna anã, amendoim forrageiro e braquiária) e o tratamento testemunha com vegetação espontânea, sendo que foram mantidas quatro distâncias de plantio (ou da vegetação espontânea) em relação à linha do cafeeiro (25, 50, 75 e 100 cm). Em dezembro de 2018, foram avaliados o crescimento dos cafeeiros, os atributos químicos do solo e os teores foliares de nutrientes. As plantas de cobertura leguminosas feijão-de-porco, mucuna anã, amendoim forrageiro e a braquiária na distância de 100 cm melhoram os atributos químicos do solo, os teores foliares de nutrientes do cafeeiro, e favorecem seu crescimento.Item Brown eye spot incidence during the vegetative stage of coffee grown in soil under sustainable management(Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária - Embrapa, 2022-08-29) Resende, Laís Sousa; Pozza, Edson Ampélio; Luz, André Luís Faustino; Souza, Paulo Estevão de; Vilela, Marina Scalioni; Castanheira, Dalyse Toledo; Guimarães, Rubens JoséThe objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of different soil coverings, fertilizer types, and soil conditioners on the incidence and severity of brown eye spot (Cercospora coffeicola) in coffee (Coffea arabica) during the vegetative stage. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design, in a 3×2×5 factorial arrangement (soil coverings × fertilizer types × soil conditioners) in subdivided plots, with three replicates. Comparisons were made among: three soil covering (plastic film, Urochloa decumbens, and no covering) in the plots; two fertililizer types (conventional and controlled release) in the sub-plots; and four soil conditioners (coffee husk, agricultural gypsum, water retention polymer, and organic compound), as well as the control, in the sub-sub-plots. The area under the progress curve for disease incidence and severity showed the lowest mean without soil covering, whereas that for number of leaves was greater with the use of the controlled-release fertilizer. The plastic film provided a greater soil moisture and a lower soil resistance penetration. The chemical composition of the organic compound reduced coffee plants growth. Soil covering with plastic film or U. decumbens favors the high incidence of brown eye spot; however, it provides a greater soil moisture and, therefore, improves the growth of coffee plants in the vegetative stage.Item Effectiveness and selectivity of herbicides applied under pre-emergence conditions in weed management for coffee crop(Editora UFLA, 2021) Gonçalves Netto, Acácio; Presoto, Jéssica Cursino; Resende, Laís Sousa; Malardo, Marcelo Rafael; Andrade, Jeisiane de Fátima; Nicolai, Marcelo; Carvalho, Saul Jorge Pinto de; Rodrigues, Matheus Rossi; Marçal, Marcela Borges TomásThe coffee plant is sensitive to weed competition, which negatively affects its growth and development. Thus, the proper and safe use of herbicides is extremely important for weed management to allow the crop to develop its maximum productive potential. The objective of this study was to evaluate the control efficacy of different herbicides under pre-emergence conditions and assess their selectivity for coffee crops. Two experiments were carried out in the field, in randomized block designs, with four replicates and eight treatments, totaling 32 experimental plots. The treatments were: unweeded control; weeded control; sulfentrazone + diuron 1.4 L ha-1; sulfentrazone + diuron 1.7 L ha-1; sulfentrazone + diuron 2.0 L ha-1; sulfentrazone + diuron with indaziflam 1.4 + 0.15 L ha-1; respectively, indaziflam 0.15 L ha-1; and oxyfluorfen + chlorimuron 3.0 L ha-1 + 0.08 kg ha-1, respectively. The treatments were applied prior to the emergence of weeds in a directed spray between the crop rows. Evaluations of weed control in the area, phytotoxicity to the crop, branch length, and internode distance of coffee were conducted at 30, 60, 90, and 120 days after treatment application (DAA). In general, all treatments guaranteed greater than 80% efficacy up to 60 DAA. After this, some treatments suffered reductions in efficacy, and did not guarantee satisfactory con trol up to 120 DAA. For Digitaria nuda, the most effective treatments were those that contained indaziflam alone or in combination with sulfentrazone + diuron, and oxyfluorfen + chlorimuron for 60 DAA. In both experiments and the two species analyzed, the indaziflam treatments guaranteed efficacy percentages above 80%, even at 120 DAA. All treatments were equally selective for the coffee plants under the conditions evaluated.Item First report of Aethalion reticulatum (Linnaeus, 1767) (Hemiptera: Aethalionidae) infesting plants of Coffea arabica (Linnaeus, 1753) (Rubiaceae)(Editora UFLA, 2021) Resende, Laís Sousa; Moreira, Luciano Bastos; Carvalho, Vinícius Castro; Carvalho, Geraldo AndradeCoffee has great socio-economic importance, and in this scenario, Brazil stands out as the largest producer and exporter of coffee beans. However, the coffee crop is susceptible to the attack of several insect pests, the main ones being the coffee berry borer Hypothenemus hampei (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) and the leaf miner Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae), which can cause great economic losses if left unchecked. However, other pest arthropods may be present in the crop, and their identification and evaluation of its importance are essential for the elaboration of mitigation measures. Up to date, the presence of the leafhopper Aethalion reticulatum (Hemiptera: Aethalionidae) in Coffea arabica (Rubiaceae) plants has not been reported in the literature. Thus, the present study aimed to describe the occurrence of A. reticulatum in Coffea arabica plants on the Campus of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), Lavras, Minas Gerais, Brazil.Item Proposed diagrammatic scale to assess heat injury in coffee seedling canopy(Editora da Universidade Estadual de Maringá - EDUEM, 2023-04-28) Resende, Laís Sousa; Pozza, Edson Ampélio; Pereira, Renata Cristina Martins; Botrel, Élberis Pereira; Roteli, Karolaine de Cássia; Oliveira, Júlia MarquesA diagrammatic scale with five levels (0, 0.1 - 2.0, 2.0 - 6.0, 6.0 - 10, and 10 - 14) was developed and evaluated to measure the symptoms of heat injury in a coffee seedling canopy. The scale was constructed to increase assessment efficiency and align the estimations more closely with the actual values. Two assessments with the diagrammatic scale and one without were conducted with an interval of seven days. The evaluators using the proposed scale presented estimates with better levels of precision, accuracy, reproducibility, and repeatability than those using a conventional method. The proposed diagrammatic scale was shown to provide a reliable estimate for assessing the symptoms of heat injury on the canopy of in Coffea arabica L. seedlings. Therefore, it is possible to standardize heat injury evaluation methods using this diagrammatic scale, allowing for data comparisons with different cultivars.Item Soil chemical attributes in coffee growing with different agronomic techniques(Editora UFLA, 2020) Voltolini, Giovani Belutti; Silva, Larissa Cocato da; Alecrim, Ademilson de Oliveira; Castanheira, Dalyse Toledo; Resende, Laís Sousa; Rezende, Tiago Teruel; Guimarães, Rubens JoséThe objective was to evaluate the chemical attributes in a coffee growing area, according to different agronomic techniques used and their associations. The experiment was conducted in the field, from January 2016 to October 2018. Coffee was planted in January 2016, with Mundo Novo IAC 379-19 coffee seedlings, with a spacing of 3.6 m between rows and 0.75 m between plants in the planting row. The factors under study were arranged in a 3x2x5 factorial scheme, making a total of 30 treatments. In the plots, three soil managements were randomized (soil cover with polyethylene film, soil cover with brachiaria-grass and conventional management of spontaneous vegetation). In the subplots, two types of fertilizers (conventional and increased-efficiency fertilizer). In the sub-subplots, four soil conditioners (coffee husk, phosphogypsum, water retention polymer, organic compost), and the control without conditioner. Aimed to evaluate soil chemical attributes in coffee growing with different agronomic techniques through the evaluation of: soil pH, phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), aluminum saturation (m) and base saturation (V%). The use of fertilizers combined with the application of organic compost or coffee husk, provide increased soil pH, as well as the use of ecological management of brachiaria-grass. The use of organic compost as a soil conditioner increases phosphorus availability in the soil. Coffee husk, as a soil conditioner, is an efficient potassium source for the coffee crop. The use of organic compost and phosphogypsum increases the calcium and magnesium contents in the soil. The use of organic compost and coffee husk was efficient in increasing the base saturation grown with coffee. The use of organic compost, coffee husk and phosphogypsum reduced aluminum saturation in the soil. Treatments associated with the use of organic compost improve calcium, phosphorus and magnesium levels, increase pH and base saturation, besides decreasing aluminum saturation.
