The study was carried out at the experimental area of crop coffee at the Federal University of Lavras / MG and aimed to evaluate the diffusive resistance and transpiration in crop coffee, cultivar Rubi MG-1192, cultivated under different planting densities: 2500 plants ha-1 (4.0x1.0 m), 5000 plants ha-1 (2.0x1.0 m), 10000, plants ha-1 (2.0x0.5 m), from April to November 2009. Three irrigation management were used: i) no irrigation (T0); ii) irrigated when soil water tension at depth of 0.25 m reached 60 kPa (T2) ; iii) irrigated on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, replacing the estimated evapotranspiration (T5). The measurements were made from April to November 2009, from Noon to 1;00PM. Measurements were taken of one plant of each treatment with three replications. Totally expanded, healthy, not shaded and east/west guided leaves were selected. The results indicated for all irrigation management that stomatal resistance tends to decrease with increasing the number of plants per hectare and has the greatest values in the non irrigatedtreatment. The transpiration rate tends to be inversely proportional to the stomatal resistance and the highest values for all studied conditions were obtained in May probably due to the interaction of environmental factors.
