This paper reports the effects of different concentrations of aqueous solutions of emulsionable neem oil and leaf extract on egg laying and egg survival of Leucoptera coffeella (Guér.-Menev.), as part of a project on neem utilisation for management of the main pests in organic coffee. Aqueous solutions of emulsionable neem oil were sprayed on coffee seedlings at concentrations varying from 0.125% to 2.5% and offered to L. coffeella adults in multiple choice and no-choice bioassays. A control group was sprayed with water. Multiple choice test was also performed using aqueous leaf extract at 4%, 20%, 40% and a control group. The number of eggs on the surface of the leaves of the coffee seedlings treated with neem oil aqueous solutions was significantly reduced (about 50%) in comparison with the control plants (P<0.01). Egg laying as significantly reduced above 60% when 20% and 40% neem leaf extracts were used. The lethal action of neem solutions on eggs was evaluated by spraying the same concentrations as in the multiple choice test. All concentrations tested promoted significant mortality, which increased with the dose (P<0.05).
