The coffee is one of drinks more consumed in the world and the same one has been reported as food that induces the beneficial effect in the health, as the reduction of the body mass index (BMI). As the obesity is closely related to diabetes mellitus type II, and the same one is an illness that has reached high epidemiologists platforms in the public health, was accomplished this work with the objective to evaluate the BMI alteration of individuals with diabetes mellitus type II along 6 months and in this way to conjecture the existing basis between the interaction type of consumed coffee versus BMI alteration. This research was developed in Lavras city, MG, involving eighteen diabetic volunteers type II that consumed throughout the experiment normal and decaffeinated coffee. The results indicate that did not have significant alteration related to the alteration of individuals BMI that had consumed normal and decaffeinated coffee. There is a necessity to add studies about the consumption or not of coffee, types and levels of consumed coffee making possible a deep analysis of its relation with the body mass index alteration at diabetic patients type II.
