This study aimed to evaluate the infestation of coffee borer (Hypothenemus hampei) in coffee agroecosystems conducted under conventional, organic-mineral and organic managements in the municipality of Poço Fundo, south of Minas Gerais. To this end, it selected a property that coffee was the three management systems shown, with crops close. Picked up coffee for a farm is held monthly monitoring of the coffee borer in a period of seven months, conducting the assessments in December 2007 to June 2008. The borer infestation in fruits was determined in non-destructive sampling and observations were made monthly from the beginning of the coffee harvest. The infestation was measured observing the thirty-two plants taken at random, giving six points per plant, and one point for third (upper, middle and bottom) on each side of the plant (north/south), totaling two points for third. At each point assessed ten fruits were grouped and point sampled was a branch plagiotropic coffee. It was found that, in any agroecosystem, the infestation of the coffee borer was more than 3%, representing the percentage of economic damage level. Among all systems, the conventional got the highest infestation rate in spite of chemical insecticide use, to the incidence of 1.35%. The agroecosystems organic-mineral and organic infestations reached less than 0.67% and 0.72%, consecutively. These results indicate satisfactory levels of biological equilibrium of organic-mineral and organic coffee agroecosystems.
