Herança da resistência do híbrido de Timor UFV 443-3 à Hemileia vastatrix Berk. et Br.

Abstract

A ferrugem do cafeeiro causada por Hemileia vastatrix é um das principais doenças do cafeeiro. O uso de variedades resistentes é a alternativa de controle mais eficiente, simples e baixo custo, além de reduzir/eliminar o uso de defensivos agrícolas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar a herança da resistência do Híbrido de Timor UFV 443-3 à raça II de H. vastatrix. Para isso foi realizado o cruzamento entre o Híbrido de Timor UFV 443-3 e a variedade suscetível Catuaí amarelo IAC 64 (UFV 2148-57EL7). Os genitores e as plantas das gerações F1 e F2 foram inoculadas com o patógeno. O Híbrido de Timor e o F1 foram resistentes, enquanto que o ‘Catuaí’ foi suscetível. Dos 246 indivíduos F2, 243 comportaram-se como resistentes e três como suscetíveis. Esta segregação (63:1) sugere que a resistência do Híbrido de Timor UFV 443-3 à raça II de H. vastatrix é condicionada por três genes dominantes e independentes.

Coffee leaf rust caused by Hemileia vastatrix is one of the most destructive diseases of coffee tree. Rust resistant varieties are the most effective alternative control because it is simple, costless and furthermore can minimize/eliminate the use of fungicides. The objective of this work was to characterize the inheritance resistance of the Timor Hybrid UFV 443-3 to H. vastatrix race II. For that the Timor Hybrid UFV 443-3 were crossed with the susceptible variety Catuaí amarelo IAC 64 (UFV 2148-57EL7). The parents and the plants of the generations f1 and f2 were inoculated with the fungi. The parent Timor Hybrid and the F1 plants were resistents, while the 'catuaí' was susceptible. Of the 246 individuals F2, 243 were resistant and three susceptible. The ratio of segregation (63:1) suggests that the resistance of the Timor Hybrid UFV 443-3 to the race II of H. vastatrix is conditioned by three dominants and independents genes.
