Resumo
A propagação vegetativa através do enraizamento de estacas é uma alternativa viável para a multiplicação de híbridos de café em escala comercial. Neste trabalho, buscou-se substituir o uso de estufas com sistemas automáticos de nebulização, para produção de mudas por estaquia de Coffea arabica L. O experimento foi instalado num estufim plástico de 1,5 x 1 x 0,90 m, com leito de areia. Posteriormente, as estacas foram transferidas para um viveiro comum. Foram utilizadas estacas herbáceas, oriundas de brotações de ramos ortotrópicos, que, depois de preparadas, eram constituídas de um nó, um par de folhas reduzidas a um terço do seu tamanho, 8-10 cm de comprimento, e foram submetidas aos tratamentos: plantio direto no viveiro e no estufim. Variou-se o tempo de permanência das estacas no estufim (7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49 e 56 dias), utilizando-se um delineamento em blocos casualizados. Após 150 dias, avaliaram-se as seguintes características: percentagem de estacas vivas, número de brotações, comprimento de brotações, peso da matéria seca de brotações, percentagem de estacas enraizadas, número de raízes e peso da matéria seca das raízes. A utilização de estufim para enraizamento de estacas de C.
arabica L. é uma alternativa tecnicamente viável. O período de 35 dias mostrou-se ideal para permanência das estacas no estufim.
Vegetative propagation through the rooting of stakes is a viable alternative for the multiplication of coffee hybrids in commercial scale The objective of this work was the substitution of the use of greenhouses with automatic nebulization for the rooting of Coffea arabica L. stakes. The experiment was installed in a 1,5 x 1 x 0,90 m plastic propagating box with sand in it. The stakes were transferred later to a regular nursery. Herbaceous stakes from orthotropics branches with one bud, two leaves reduced to 1/3 of their size, and 8-10 cm length were planted directly in the nursery and in plastic propagating box. They were kept in the plastic propagating box for different periods (7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49 and 56 days). The statistical design was randomized blocks. The following characteristics were evaluated after 150 days: surviving stakes, number of sprouts, average sprouts length, sprouts dry weight, percentage of rooted stakes, roots number, and dry weight of the roots. The use of plastic propagating box for rooting of C. arabica L. stakes is a technically viable alternative. Better rooting of C. arabica L. is registered when the stakes are kept in plastic propagating box for 35 days.
