This research was conducted to obtain the Pratylenchus coffeae (Zimmermann, 1898) and P. jaehni Inserra et al. 2001 reproduction rates in coffee and citrus plants to find in this hosts differences and equalities to both studied nematode species. For that was made four essays. At the first essay coffee plants ‘Catuaí Vermelho’ and citrus plants ‘Limão Cravo’ were inoculated with 100 nematodes (P. coffeae or P. jaehni)/plant that were maintained in the green house. 148 days after the inoculation, the plants were evaluated using as parameters: Height, shoot dry weight , root fresh weight, final population of the nematode inoculated in soil and roots, following the method proposed by Jenkins (1964) and Coolen e D’Herde (1972), respectively. At the second essay, coffee plants ‘Catuaí Vermelho’ and citrus plants ‘Limão Cravo’ were inoculated with 220 nematodes (P. jaehni)/plant that were maintained in the green house. 136 days after the inoculation, the plants were evaluated using the same parameters of the first essay. At the third essay, seven coffee plant’s genotypes (Icatu Vermelho, Apoatã, Catuaí Vermelho, Mundo Novo, EP355 and IAC 457) were inoculated with 500 nematodes (P. coffeae or P. jaehni)/plant 120 days after the inoculation, the plants were evaluated using as parameters: root fresh weight, final population of the nematode inoculated in soil and roots, following the method proposed by Jenkins (1964) and Coolen e D’Herde (1972), respectively. At the fourth essay , also in greenhouse condition, three coffee plant’s genotypes (Catuaí Vermelho, Icatu Vermelho and Mundo Novo) were inoculated with 1000 nematodes (P. coffeae or P. jaehni)/plant. 117 days after the inoculation, the plants were evaluated using the same parameters of the first essay. In accord with the obtained results was possible to observe differences in the reproduction rates of both nematode species , then P. coffeae presented high reproduction rate in coffee plants and low reproduction rate in citrus plants, and P. jaehni presented low reproduction rate in coffee plants and high reproduction rate in citrus plants.
