Aiming to verify the exudation of organic acids ( endogenous ) and the effect of their application on the development of coffee tree seedlings ( Coffea arabica L.) with the use of natural phosphate and the behavior of the plant when one of the acids exuded by the root is applied into the soil, an experiment in greenhouse of the Soil Science department of the UFLA in RCE in the 4 x 4 factorial scheme, its being 4 doses of natural phosphate ( 0, 53.58; 107.16 and 160.74g/pot) and 4 doses of citric acid ( 0, 10 -4 ; 10 -3 and 10 -2 M) by utilizing as a substrate, the B horizon of a Red Dusky Latosol and coffee tree seedlings ( Coffea arabica L) of the cultivar Topázio MG-1190, transplanted with four pairs of leaves was set up. The samples of the coffee tree rhizosphere were submitted to the extraction and the organic acids identified and identified by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The citric, oxalic and malic acids presented distinct behavior when different doses of citric acid and natural phosphate were applied into the soil. There was a tendency of reduction of the concentrations of oxalic acid in the presence of citric acid, opposed behavior to that of citric and malic acids. The concentrations of oxalic acid were the highest among the acids investigated .
