This work was designed to study the effects of soil compaction on the concentration of nutrients in the coffee tree under greenhouse conditions . The experiment was conducted in the DCS/ UFLA for 150 days . The experimental design was in randomized blocks in a 5 x 3 factorial scheme, 5 being the compaction degree ( 50; 62.5; 75; 87.5 and 100% ) of the maximum density reached on the normal proctor curve and three soil classes ( Red Dusky Latosol - LR , medium textured Yellow Red Latosol -LVm and clayey Red yellow Latosol - LVr) with four replicates. The plots were made up of PVC tube pots - 150 mm in diameter, composed of three rings , the compaction degrees being applied on the central ring . The basic fertilization was done with P, K, N, S, Fe, Mn , Cu, Zn and B at the doses of ( 280, 148; 100; 34; 1.56; 3.66; 1.39; 5.0 and 0.82) mg/kg of soil . Two plants of the cultivar Acaiá cerrado MG 1474 per pot were conducted , by evaluating the concentration of nutrients in the shoot. The results showed that the increased compaction degree raised dry matter yield in the shoot up to 75% in the LR and 66% in the LVm, not influencing the LVr. The concentration of Mn and Fe increased with the rise f the compaction degree on whole the soils, . For B end Cu was reduced with increasing compaction independent of the soil class.
