The objective of this study was to evaluate the development of coffee seedlings (Coffea arabica L.) in five rates (0, 15, 30, 45 and 60% based on volume) from three sources of organic material (cattle manure, poultry manure and humus of the forest) added to commercial substrate Bioplant coffee. The design was in randomized blocks with four replications in scheme factorial. The experiment was conducted in nursery with screenhouse, 50% of natural light in the county of Orizona, Goiás, Brazil, in the period September 2008 to March 2009. Were used seeds of the cultivar ‘Catuaí Vermelho IAC-144’, sown at 1.0 cm deep in containers (bags), of 11 x 20 cm. Evaluations of plant height, stem diameter and number of leaves were performed at 120 and 160 days after sowing. On average, the cattle manure provided better results for all characteristics evaluated, while in the control treatment (use of the commercial substrate only), it was obtained the worst results. At 160 days of age, the optimal proportions of organics materials for the growth of the seedlings ranged from 37.8 to 40.6% of cattle manure, 32.0 to 32.9% of poultry manure and 54.5 to 60.0% the humus of the forest.
