Upper lineages derived from some crossings between Yellow the Catuaí variety (planted, however susceptible commercial variety to the rust) and the Hybrid from Timor (carrying from the genes from resistance to the rust from the cofee tree, Hemileia vastatrix Berk. et Br.) they had been selected and with them some assays of competition with the objective had been installed to select the material elites of the improvement program. This work had as objective to select lineages resistant, with adequate transport (low) and productive. After all the done evaluation the field, was obtained to not only select resistant with productive features next the features to the commercial variety (Rubi), as also lineages that if had presented of form uniform how much the features of good transport low e vegetative vigor that is a parameter of good correlation with the production. In this present work they had been evaluated and selected lineages F4 de Híbridos de Yellow Catuaí with Hybrid of Timor in two assays installed in the year of 1996 in the Campus of the UFV. The assays are made use of fortuitous form where each lineage possesss three replications with four plants for replication totalizing twelve plants for lineage. The transport evaluation was made inside of a scale of 1 the 3 where: 1 is low transport; 2 are average transport and 3 are high transport. From the number of plants was observed there gifts in each scale (1 the 3) and with this the aspect of segregation of the lineages was evaluated. Already in the evaluation of the vegetative vigor a note scale was adopted that varies of 1 the 10: 1 (low vigor) and 10 (excellent vigor). The data of production of the years of 1999 and 2000 had been tabulated separately of the data of the year of 2001, for the fact of in 1999 and 2000 the production to have been measured on wight of coffee of roça (Kg/plant) and in 2001 the production was measured on weight of coffee côco (Kg/plant) so that it had one better uniformity of the grains in the hour of the valuation. Lineages 25-12-4 and 10-3-3, respectively of assays 14 and 15, had been the ones that had gotten the best ones resulted, mainly in the maintenance of a good vigor and production during these years where they had been evaluated. He is premature, still, to say that these lineages are the elites of this program of improvement, however these evaluations have helped very in that it says respect to the aspect of continuity of the work, or either, which must be the next pacing to be taken for, finally to select the best ones.
