The purpose of this study was to evaluate the toxicity of insecticides used in coffee crop on larvae of 1st, 2nd and 3rd instars of Chrysoperla externa (Hagen). The survival of specimens after the application of the products, the duration of the stages of development, oviposition and viability of eggs laid by the females from the treated larvae were evaluated. The effects on 1st instar larvae of the predator, the products chlorpyrifos and triazophos were highly harmful causing 100% of mortality. All the other insecticides affected the survival of the larvae, presenting avarage of 27.5, 35.0, 57.5, 60.0 and 72.5% for profenofos/lufenuron, fenpropathrin, zetacipermethrin, cartap hydrochloride and pyriproxyfen, respectively . The survival of 2nd instar larvae was affected by zetacipermethrin, fenpropathrin, profenofos/lufenuron and cartap hydrochloride, being the survival rate of 75.0, 77.5, 82.5 and 85.0%, respectively. The products chlorpyrifos and triazophos did not allow any treated larvae to survive. For the 3rd instar larvae, chlorpyrifos and triazophos were the ones that allowed a fewer number of survival specimens, being the survival rate 20.0 and 57.5%, respectively. For other compounds, the larvae survival ranged between 77.5 and 92.5%. Didn ́t occurred any effect of the products on the number of the eggs laid by the females from the treated larvae of 1o, 2o e 3o instars and the number of viable eggs.
