Com o objetivo de verificar a influencia da época e do tipo de poda na manutenção da produtividade em lavouras de café adensado, foi instalado o experimento em lavoura de 8 anos da cultivar Catuaí IAC-44, plantadas em um espaçamento de 2,5 x 1,0 m. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados, no esquema fatorial (3 x 5), mais uma testemunha adicional. Cada parcela, constou de 3 linhas de plantas com 8 plantas na fileira, sendo avaliadas apenas as 6 plantas da fileira central. Os tratamentos foram constituídos de três épocas distintas nos meses de agosto, outubro e dezembro. Os tipos de podas foram recepa a 0,3m de altura; recepa a 0,8m de altura, com ramo pulmão; decote a 1,8m de altura; decote a 1,8m, mais desponte a 60cm; desponte a 60cm, sem decote. A característica avaliada foi a produtividade em sacas de 60,0 kg café beneficiado/ha. Conclui-se após cinco anos de avaliações que o tratamento "desponte a 60cm sem decote realizado em outubro" demonstrou ser o mais indicado para os produtores que desejam renovar sua lavoura, mas dependem da manutenção da produtividade e renda da lavoura cafeeira.
An experiment in an 8 year old crop of the Catuaí IAC-44 coffee cultivar, planted with 2.5 x 1.0 m spacing was installed with the objective of verifying the influence of the season and type of pruning on the maintenance of productivity in coffee in thicken planting system. Randomized blocks, following the factorial (3 x 5) arrangement plus an additional witness were used as experimental design. Each plot consisted of 3 rows of plants with 8 plants in a row. Only 6 plants from the central row were evaluated. The crop was evaluated in three different seasons - August, September and October. The types of pruning used were cut at 0.3 m height, cut at 0.8 m height, with breath branch; low cut at 1.8 m height; low cut at 1.8 m plus lopping of tops at 60 cm; lopping of tops at 60 cm, without low cut. The variable was the productivity of sacks of 60.0 kg of processed coffee/ha. After five years of evaluation we conclude that the "lopping of tops at 60 cm without low cut, in October" demonstrated to be the most indicated for producers that want to renew their crop but depend on the maintenance of productivity and rent of the coffee crop.
